 <description>&lt;p&gt;Mitchell J. Chang is Associate Professor of Higher Education and Organizational Change at the University of California, Los Angeles and also holds a courtesy appointment in the Asian American Studies Department. Chang&#039;s research focuses on the educational efficacy of diversity-related initiatives on college campuses and how to apply those best practices toward advancing student learning and democratizing institutions.&amp;nbsp; In 2006, he was profiled as one of the nation&#039;s top ten emerging scholars by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education (formerly Black Issues in Higher Education).&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Patricia Gandara is Professor of Education at UCLA. Her professional interests in graduate teaching include education policy/education reform, social context of learning, learning and assessment, and educational equity/bilingual and multicultural education. She is currently the co-director of the Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles. She was President of the Sociology of Education Association in 1995 and Chair of the UC Linguistic Minority Research Institute in 1995. She has also been Chair of the Program Committee for Division G and Chair of the Hispanic SIG of the American Educational Research Association.&lt;/p&gt;

His most recent efforts have focused on addressing the school to prison pipeline, and on implementation concerns about the No Child Left Behind Act.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Gary Orfield is professor of Education, Law, Political Science and Urban Planning at UCLA and is co-director of the Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles at UCLA. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago. His interests include the study of civil rights, urban policy, and minority opportunity. His research methods range from original survey research to analysis of national data sets to political analysis of urban decision-making.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;John Rogers is Assistant Professor in the Urban Schooling division of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA. He studies strategies for engaging urban youth, community members, and educators in equity-focused school reform.&amp;nbsp; Dr. Rogers draws extensively on the work of John Dewey to explore the meaning of and possibilities for democratic education today.&amp;nbsp; He teaches in the Principal Leadership Institute where his focus is on democratic leadership and the relationship between school leaders and community members.&amp;nbsp; Dr. Rogers is the co-author (with Jeannie Oakes) of the recently published Learning Power: Organizing for Education and Justice.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Jos&amp;eacute; Luis Santos is Assistant  Professor of Higher Education and Organizational Change in the Department  of Education at the UCLA Graduate School of Education &amp;amp; Information  Studies and affiliate scholar of the Higher Education Research Institute  (HERI).&amp;nbsp; Santos&amp;rsquo; research centers on comparative state policy  research in higher education, involving higher education economics,  finance, and public policy. Recently he was selected as an Associate  of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education (2006-07).  Prior to joining UCLA, Professor Santos was a senior institutional researcher  and the Founding Director of the Latina/o Policy Research Initiative  at the University of Arizona.&lt;/p&gt;
