To curb truancy, Dallas tries electronic monitoring

A high school in Dallas is piloting a program where chronically truant students are monitored electronically through GPS devices. The small pilot does appear to be improving attendance for students in the program; however, political opposition that likens the ankle monitors to slave shackles may prevent continuation of the program.
