MA: Boston to look to single-gender classes for reform

Addressing the education achievement gap with single-sex classes

Carol Johnson, Superintendent of Boston's schools, said that single-sex classes would be one strategy used to close the achievement gap between boys and girls.  Boston already has piloted single-sex programs in several schools.  Federal regulations regarding single-sex education programs were changed two years ago to provide districts with more flexibility to experiement with single-sex classrooms.
