DC: School closures bring parents' questions

Rhee's need to hurry runs into parents' fear of change

Chancellor Michelle Rhee's plan to close 23 underperforming schools is meeting with questions and resistance from parents.  The rapidly occurring changes mean that many questions that parents have about the schools their children will attend the following year are not yet answered.  In a related story, the Chancellor yesterday notified principals whose contracts would not be renewed for the following year.  The removal of principals is another piece of her plan for reforming schools within the District of Columbia.  For details on that story, click here.
