Charter-school fans want more

Denver Post  May 7, 2008

Denver Public Schools received proposals for 19 new schools for next year, including 8 charter schools, 8 "innovation" schools (which have more flexibility but employ district teachers), and 1 union-based school. The Donnell-Kay Foundation is also working with a new group that plans to open 100 autonomous schools in the Front Range over the next 10 years. A few successful charter schools are causing parents to demand more or expanded charters in order to serve more students. Unsuccessful charters were not discussed in the article.
