Laurence Parker is a professor and the associate head in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He has taught at Temple University and the University of Utah before coming to UIUC in 1997. Since that time he has developed and taught classes on critical race theory and education policy issues and has concentrated his research and teaching in this area as it relates to equity and education, both K-12 and higher education. His most recent publication is a co-authored book chapter that appears in Facing Accountability in Education: Democracy & Equity at Risk (edited by Christine Sleeter, 2007, Teachers College Press), and he recently edited vols. 29 & 31 of the Review of Research in Education for AERA.
